Let’s talk about: Mental Wellbeing in the Workplace

Hi reader, welcome to our community 😊,

We’re so excited to have you join us, here at The Working Well Service, on our journey as we share our experiences, knowledge and POVs with you as we explore the topic of Mental Wellbeing in the Workplace through our blog.

The conception of The Working Well Service began with our unique insight from the world of employability; supporting unemployed people with various health and social barriers back into work, whilst also guiding employers to recognise the value they add to their business, and how to utilise as well as support them in the best possible way.

As this is our first post, we’ve decided to round up exactly who we are, what we do, and explore how our services have already contributed to our society.

What have we done?

Our services have contributed to approximately 10,000 unemployed people gaining both social and financial independence, as we filled 1000’s of job vacancies across the UK. The social impact of which is much wider than the individual person or organisation, as it  also benefits the communities and the families they belong to.

Who do we work with?

We work closely with various community groups and try to keep an ear to the ground, so we can tackle the issues that affect our society, by providing equitable opportunities for both the employees and organisations, by maximising employment and career potential.

Where did we come from?

Just before the first lockdown, our journey into workplace mental health developed after a small-scale project with London Borough of Barnet Public Health to support their local businesses and their employed residents, to reduce unemployment due to mental wellbeing decline. While we were aware at that time this was an important area of work, we hadn’t comprehended just how crucial our services would become due to the impending Covid-19 pandemic.

How have we developed?

Along the way we have developed and adapted as a society, as individuals and as a service to meet the needs of all the organisations and people we aim to serve.  We listened, challenged and learnt a lot along our journey, and we have supported many organisations to assess, develop and implement mental wellbeing management practises and systems to better support and retain their most valuable commodities, their people, as well as the skills and expertise they bring. We are also proud to have minimised financial damage to organisations, individuals, their families and the broader UK economy.

“We want to share our journey of discovery, the experiences and knowledge we have gained along the way and remain true to our vision and to work towards a world which provides equitable opportunities for everyone.”

Throughout our blogs we will supporting and guiding you and your workplace by discussing and confront key factors which are affecting the UK working environment such as:

  • The stigma of talking about mental health at work
  • The do’s, don’ts and why’s of broaching the subject of mental health at work
  • News and tips related to mental wellbeing management

We truly believe we can all take a proactive approach to workplace mental wellbeing management, so let’s do it together!
